Figured & Xero

Forget separate spreadsheets. Figured connects to your farm's Xero account and adds live production data on top, so your financials and your farm stay in sync β€” automatically.

About Xero

Bringing Xero and Figured Together

Xero is one of the world's most popular small business accounting platforms, in use by millions of organisations around the globe.
For farmers, it handles the general accounts well. Figured adds the farm side on top, syncing automatically to combine accounting with production tracking, planning, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Real-time bank feeds and automatic reconciliation.
  • Invoicing, payroll, and multi-user access from any device.
  • An ecosystem of over 1,000 connected apps.

Heard This Before?

"Xero does the financials, but we're stuck on spreadsheets for the farm data."

Xero does a great job on the farm’s numbers, but they’re not a good reflection of what’s really happening on the paddock. That data tends to live in spreadsheets, on bits of paper, or in the farmer’s head. Getting it together for year-end reconciliation, let alone planning or forecasting, has always been a challenge.

But what if your farm data and accounts weren’t separate? Across New Zealand, more farm teams are switching to a platform that connects to Xero and gives the farm side a proper home, pairing the farm’s numbers with the actuals already sitting in Xero. The dashboard is always live, and an accurate reflection of what’s happening in the paddock.

Figured is that platform.

What Figured & Xero Do Together

No Entering the Same Data Twice

Chart of accounts, bank transactions, and invoices come across from Xero automatically. There's no second data set to maintain and no manual entry to keep both systems aligned.

From General Ledger to Farm Report

Figured categorises Xero's financial data by farm activity, feeding straight into livestock, cropping, and production reporting. You get enterprise-level gross margins and valuations Xero can't produce alone.

Detailed Transactions, Kept in Balance

Record a stock sale or purchase in Figured and it posts back to Xero as an invoice, matching automatically when payment clears. Both systems stay in balance all season long.

Figured & Xero β€” FAQ

Yes. Xero handles your core accounting side, including bank feeds, invoicing, and reconciliation. Figured then adds what Xero doesn’t cover, which is the farm production side, plus farm-specific planning and reporting.

Figured has been designed to sit on top of Xero, not replace it. You get to keep working with the accounting software you already know and use, with Figured coming in to replace any old spreadsheets or paper files for the farm side.

Likely, yes. Xero’s default chart of accounts is built for a standard business, not a farm, so it usually needs some setup work first. The exact accounts depend on what you’re tracking, but we’ll help you each step of the way during onboarding to ensure a smooth process and to get you into Figured as quickly as possible.

The first sync pulls across your Xero file's full history, so it takes longer than every sync after it. Once that finishes, Figured settles into its normal speed of syncing automatically every few hours. If you're onboarding a file with several years of history, allow time for it to complete before setting up trackers or the chart of accounts.

Figured syncs with Xero automatically through a secure API, but you can trigger an immediate sync any time within the Figured app. You can also view your connections from the same menu to check how long a sync has been running. This is useful straight after reconciling transactions or changing your chart of accounts.

No. Once a Figured farm is connected to a Xero organisation, it can't be moved to a different one. If the wrong organisation gets connected, the fix is to create a new Figured farm and connect that to the correct one.

Yes. If a client runs several farming operations under one Xero entity, Figured’s Multi-Farm feature uses Xero’s tracking categories to separate them within a single file, with reporting available per farm or consolidated.

Where separate Xero files each need their own Figured farm, those can be grouped for consolidated reporting using Multi-Entity instead.
