For Farmers
“The farm numbers live in our heads — now we’re figuring out how to show them to everyone else.”
Most Australian farming operations run on decades of knowledge held in the outgoing farmer’s head. It’s the exact information which has to be passed on, but it isn’t shareable.
Incoming farmers need to be able to engage with the numbers directly, in a format they can access on their own, preferably well organised and current. The bank has the same problem — during succession conversations, they’re looking to understand current debt positions and cashflow, and whether the new farmer can take on the loan.
Both problems share the same root: the farm’s finances live somewhere only one person can reach.
Live Data
Figured is all about getting access to live numbers when you need them. When it comes time to sit down with the family, trust, accountant, bank, or lawyers, this is where you find the answers.
With automatic two-way syncing to Xero or MYOB, plus a variety of other data streams connecting your farm position to production apps you already use, you’ll know the position you see in Figured today reflects reality on the farm as it’s happening.

Scenario Modelling
Succession decisions carry long-term financial consequences for both generations, so the plan you establish now has to be one you’re confident will work for everyone.
Figured’s Scenario Planner lets you model multiple ownership structures, equity release arrangements, and transition timelines in parallel to see how it will impact each party — based on the farm’s live financial picture as it stands today.
By modelling out what decisions could look like over time, in multiple different ways, you’ll have more confidence that the decisions being made now will pay off in the long run.

Custom Reporting
Succession involves multiple stakeholders, and they’re all going to want to see how things are tracking. Figured’s powerful custom report builder, Reporting Studio, gives you full control over how you present farm performance, so the report for the family meeting reads differently from the bank pack — without the extra manual effort.
Build custom layouts once and watch as the data populates automatically. Auto Analyst even writes the commentary for you, so you spend more time having great discussions and less on building PDFs.

Collaboration
Farms are family enterprises in a way that most businesses aren’t, which is why a shared platform is different from a shared file.
Old spreadsheets depend on one person keeping them up to date, and version control is half the job. A shared platform like Figured means your family, and the people supporting you, can all be as involved as they want to, with appropriate access to the live data based on their role.
Everyone gets what they want, and you aren’t stuck fixing formula errors, chasing mismatched data, and finding out who has what version of the file.

Now with Figured, it has absolutely shifted our whole outlook on the business. I just can’t wait to be using the reports to analyse and approve decisions — we’ve never had time to do that before, we’ve been too busy just getting the information.
With the cashflow budgeting feature for our business, we’ve got the ability to plan ahead and it gives the bank and [our accountant] confidence in us that we can continue to grow and expand as a business.
With Figured, I feel like it gives you a bit more clarity going forward. Running the numbers takes the guesswork out of forecasting — if you change one figure, it flows through to the next, so you’re not wondering if your spreadsheet formula’s correct. My advice for other farmers: get on board, have a try. It’ll give you a lot more confidence and a lot more time.

Before you can model any transition scenario with confidence, livestock succession requires accurate stock valuations, stock movements, and trading accounts.
In Figured, those are handled natively — with AgriWebb-fed movements keeping production data current as it changes. When it comes time to start the succession conversation, the numbers are there for you.

Cropping operations often carry complex enterprise structures, with multiple paddocks, input cost cycles, and income that arrives in concentrated periods.
To ensure you’re talking about succession with the right numbers in front of you, Figured tracks your operation throughout the season, modelled against the budget automatically. You can feel confident your inventory and gross margin data is organised and current, down to the individual crop and field level.

Resources
While you can use Figured as a farmer, we do recommend checking whether your accountant or adviser is already using it.
Setting up the platform correctly, including the accounting software connection, the trackers for your farm type, and the opening financial position, benefits from someone who knows the system well. Once that’s done, you have your own access and can see your farm’s financial and production data at any time, not just when your accountant runs a report.
For succession planning, the best outcomes happen when your accountant is actively managing the financial picture alongside you, so when scenarios need modelling or a bank meeting comes up, you’re both working from the same position.

Figured connects to Xero, MYOB, and QuickBooks Online. If your farm accounting runs through any of those three, you can use Figured on top of it.
If you’re on an alternative accounting system, or using spreadsheets or paper-based records, you’d need to migrate to one of the supported systems first. While migrating to a modern platform can seem daunting, most farms never go back — there’s a reason they’re so popular.
It may help to talk to a Figured-enabled accountant about what you need to do next to upgrade your accounting system, then get onto Figured.
Yes. Figured’s user access model lets your accountant grant different levels of access to different members of your farming team.
A bank manager can see the reporting and financial data relevant to a lending conversation without accessing areas that don’t apply to their role. In addition, your accountant can also give any legal advisers or trustees involved in the succession process a view appropriate to their role. You retain access to your own financial and production picture at all times.
During a succession process, having everyone working from the same current data tends to make each conversation more productive and the overall process faster.
Your job is keeping the underlying data current — reconciling bank transactions in Xero or MYOB and recording farm movements as they happen. The more current that is, the more useful Figured is for both of you.
Your accountant’s job is to work with that data inside Figured. They configure your farm’s trackers, manage the planning and reporting, and handle the EOFY financial work: valuations, accruals, and the reports that go to the ATO and the bank.
For succession planning, your accountant will also be modelling scenarios, structuring reports for bank and family meetings, and managing access for the other parties involved in the process.
Figured is a monthly subscription, and the cost depends on which product tier your accountant sets you up on: Farm Reporter for compliance and reporting, or Farm Manager for the planning, forecasting, and scenario modelling side of succession.
Most farmers don’t manage the subscription directly. Your accountant or adviser handles the setup, and depending on how they work, they’ll either pass the cost on to you separately or fold it into your advisory fees. The best person to ask is your accountant — they can tell you exactly what applies to your farm before you commit to anything.
